Bio ~ Philosophy

Melanie Maupin is a 53 year old, married, mother of one; step-mother of two. She received a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of North Carolina in 1980; and enjoyed the potent, stillness of library work for many years.

In 1998 she graduated from the Body Therapy Institute in Silk Hope, NC, as a massage therapist. She worked at BTI as an assistant teacher, then student advisor for 3 years.

She became a Registered CranioSacral Therapist in 2003 after finishing a two-year, 10-level course with Micheal Shea.

As a survivor of various physical traumas including breast cancer, Melanie believes in holistic healing. The body knows how to heal itself, given the right support and environment. (This includes traditional as well as natural and spiritual medicines). Craniosacral work is fundamentally healing through trauma release, stress reduction, and restoration of "flow." Her sessions are deeply nurturing and relaxing, also invigorating.
